GENERAL INFORMATION

What is the rain/cancellation policy?

If a session is postponed or cancelled due to weather or acts beyond our control, the Tournament Committee will make every effort to accommodate the ticket holder on a subsequent session. The Tournament Committee will determine whether a session is completed. However, no refund or rain check will be given..

 

Are there any seats in the shade?

A limited number of individual box seats in the shade are available, Monday through Thursday. Also, West Court Chairs get some shade in the afternoon as the sun moves behind the building. Details.

Weekly box seat packages, which are under shaded cover and include 6 – 8 seats for all 8 days of the tournament, are also available. Availability is very limited. For more information, please email Tournament Ticket Manager Amy Smith at ASmith@tennisfame.com or call 401-849-6053.

Who is being inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame this year?

The Class of 2020 will be officially announced during the Australian Open in January.

 

Who is playing in the tournament?

The list of players for the 2020 Hall of Fame Open will be announced closer to the tournament. Previous champions have included Steve Johnson, Lleyton Hewitt and John Isner. Stay tuned.

 

How do I know when a particular player is playing? When is the Order of Play released?

The Order of Play is set late afternoon on the day prior. No matches are pre-scheduled. Follow on social media for the most up-to-date information.

 

Where is tennis played on the grounds?

During the early rounds of the tournament, tennis is played both on Bill Talbert Stadium Court and on the Front Lawn Courts, beginning at 11 am daily. Bill Talbert Stadium Court is a ticketed venue. The Front Lawn Courts are best viewed via standing room or from the bleacher seating, on the north side of the grounds, which is first-come, first-served. The Club Courts are used for player practice and various tennis clinics. View the Grounds Map here.

 

Does my ticket give me access to watch tennis on all courts?

Yes, your ticket is valid for a seat in Bill Talbert Stadium Court and for viewing all other courts.

 

What seats are available for Bill Talbert Stadium Court?  

  • Court Chairs: Located at court level on all four sides of the stadium.

  • Grandstand: The Tom and Mary James South Grandstand is located on the south side of the stadium and features stadium-style seating overlooking the center court.

  • Individual Box Seats: A limited number of individual box seats in the shade on the west and east sides are available, Monday through Thursday.

  • Weekly Box Seats: Packages include 6 – 8 tickets for all 8 days of the tournament and other benefits. Availability is very limited.

 

Does my child need a ticket?

Children 2 years and younger are permitted on-site without a ticket. The child must be able to sit on the accompanying adult’s lap the entire time.

 

Is there handicap seating available on the grounds?

Yes, handicap seating is available in the North court chairs and South Stands. To purchase a tournament ticket with handicap-accessible seating, please call the Tournament Office at 401-849-6053.

 

What time do matches begin? What time do doors open?

Matches begin every day at 11:00 am (depending on weather).

 

How long does play go each day?

Play usually goes until approximately 6 pm, but may end earlier or later depending on the number of matches and their length. 

 

Where can I park?

Parking for the tournament is available at the Newport Visitor Information Center, 23 America’s Cup Avenue, Newport, RI. From the center, RIPTA trolley No. 67 leaves every 20 minutes and will take you directly to the Hall of Fame’s front door. The cost of the trolley is $2 each way. Show your trolley receipt when you leave the parking lot and the cost of your parking will be just $2 all day. More information.

 

What dining options are available at the tournament?

A variety of delicious dining options are available on-site including sandwiches, salads, pizza, snacks, a full bar, and more! Tables and benches are available throughout the grounds.

 

Can I bring in a bag?

There is a limit of 1 small bag per person admitted onto the grounds. Bags may not exceed 12”x 12″ x 6”. All visitors to the event must consent to a reasonable search of the holder’s person and belongings for prohibited items. See Full Ticket & Event Policies.

 

Prohibited Items

Hard coolers or like containers; Strollers; Alcohol; Food; Bottles or cans; Pocket knives; Weapons of any kind; Noisemaking devices; Video cameras; Computers or laptops; Laser pointing devices; Drones, or any remote controlled aircraft; Selfie sticks; Animals (unless a service animal); any other items deemed inappropriate or dangerous by the Hall of Fame Open personnel, in their sole discretion. Is there a bag check on site?

There is no place on-site to check a bag or store other items, including strollers. Please do not bring any of the prohibited items to the property. Otherwise, you will need to return to your car or items will be confiscated.

 

Can I play on the grass courts during the tournament?

Court reservations are closed to the public and club members during the tournament. However, there are opportunities for clinics on the grass courts during tournament week. Please see the listing of daily events for details.

 

Can I leave tickets at Will Call?

Yes, Will Call is located at the tournament main entrance at 194 Bellevue Avenue. Details.

 

Is there a dress code to attend the tournament?

There is no dress code. We recommend dressing comfortably and for hot weather as it can get warm in Newport in July!  Sunscreen and hats are also recommended.

 

Can I visit the Museum while I’m attending the tournament?

All ticket holders receive one Museum admission with their tournament ticket. You must purchase a tournament ticket to access the Museum during tournament dates.  More information about the Museum.

 

Is the Tournament & Induction Ceremony shown on television or a live stream?

The broadcast schedule will be announced a few months prior to the tournament.

 

What are the dates for the 2020 Hall of Fame Open?

July 12 – 19, 2020.

How do I access my ticket discount?

Donors at the Insider and Starter levels can only access the ticket discount online using the private link sent to your email. Follow the instructions in the red text at the top of the page for each session you select. To verify your eligibility, you will be asked to enter your ID number when prompted. You can also call the Tournament Office at (401) 849-6053 to purchase your tickets over the phone.

Donors at the All-Access level can access their ticket discount by calling Marguerite Marano at (401) 324-4057 or Lauren Duffy at (401) 324-4074.

 

How do I reserve my complimentary tickets?

As with the ticket discount, donors at the Insider and Starter levels can use the private link sent to your email and follow the instructions in the red text at the top of the page for each session you select. You can also call the Tournament Office at (401) 849-6053 to reserve your complimentary tickets over the phone.

How do I access the special benefits on-site?

Visit the International Tennis Hall of Fame booth inside the Main Entrance to pick up your wristband, which gets you access to all of your on-site benefits.

VOLUNTEERS, BALL KIDS & INTERNS

Do you take volunteers to help with the tournament?

Always! You can work as an usher in the stands or drive players and special guests around. More information on volunteer opportunities will be announced soon.

 

How do I sign my child up to be a Ball Kid?

Being a ball kids is an incredible experience for a young tennis fan! More information on volunteering, including Ball Kids

 

Do you have an internship program?

Yes! We hire interns in the Winter prior to the Tournament. Internships are non-paying positions, but can be for college credit. Information regarding internship opportunities will be available in February 2020.
