The International Tennis Hall of Fame is pleased to announce The MARGARET Fund as a supporting sponsor of the Hall of Fame Open. The MARGARET Fund seeks to expand possibilities for girls and women in education and employment, and to ensure that the nation’s laws protect women’s health and provide economic security for them and their families.

For the first time since the Virgina Slims competed regularly in Newport during the 1990s, the Hall of Fame Open will host both men’s and women’s professional tennis from July 6-13. In addition to bringing women’s professional tennis back to the Hall of Fame, the ITHF has committed to raising the WTA 125 prize purse by 60 percent, to equal the ATP Challenger purse. Both the WTA and ATP fields will receive $200,000, the highest prize total at the 125 level on both tours.

"We are incredibly proud to partner with The MARGARET Fund to support and promote equity at the Hall of Fame Open, aligning with the return of women's professional tennis to Newport after 35 years," said Dan Faber, CEO of the International Tennis Hall of Fame. "This collaboration is a significant step towards fostering equity in tennis and our mission to inspire excellence across generations."

"The MARGARET Fund is thrilled to partner with the International Tennis Hall of Fame to bring equity to the Hall of Fame Open," said Deborah Larkin, founder of The MARGARET Fund and a member of the ITHF Executive Board. "This collaboration represents a significant stride towards achieving the equity Title IX promised, and we are incredibly proud to support the return of women's professional tennis to Newport after 35 years, expanding possibilities for girls and women in sports."

The MARGARET Fund (an acronym standing for "May All Resolve, Girls Achieve Real Equity Today") was inspired by Margaret Larkin, daughter of Deborah and John Larkin. Margaret grew up 22 years after the landmark Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 became law. Because of Title IX, Margaret, her schoolmates and girls across the country experienced increased opportunities in education. However, many real barriers to equal opportunities still exist in all corners of the United States, especially among girls of color and LBGTQ+ students in rural and underserved communities.

Since 1992 The MARGARET Fund has supported a wide range of programs that promote education about and compliance with Title IX to ensure that the law that requires every educational institution receiving federal funding to provide equity in all aspects of education keeps its promise. Areas of support include research studies, education initiatives, program interventions, support for policy solutions, sports and health and childcare initiatives at educational institutions and non-profit advocacy organizations across the country.

The Hall of Fame Open begins on Sunday, July 6 with qualifying and concludes with the men’s and women’s singles and doubles finals on Sunday, July 13. For tickets, player profiles and more information, visit halloffameopen.com.
